A few weeks back a group of friend’s and I were heading to Atlantic City when we saw a huge flea market right in the WaWa parking lot. So, of course I screamed for my friend to stop the car! I wasn’t too sure what we would find, but I had a feeling this would be a memorable and MUCH needed pit stop.
I know alot of people who are skeeved out by flea markets and thrift shopping, and I just don’t understand it. I mean its not like we are buying used underwear.. LOL! I personally love second hand items because there is always a story behind each piece, and its great wearing something that you know is vintage and that no one else will have.
While I was walking up and down the aisles of this flea market there were tons of stuff I wasn’t intrested in like, old tools, cassettes, figurines, and a ton of other tchocke stuff. But, as I made a turn to look at another table, I saw a slew of jewelry! umm….JACKPOT!
Check out what I got!
Bam Bam Necklace – $10
This gold necklace reminds me of something you would see on the Flinstones. It’s chunky and so unique, and did I mention 18K gold plated! I love how it lays flat, and will bring life to any plain top. I can’t WAIT to rock this necklace.
Tassel Necklace – $4
Love this simple tassle necklace with rhinestone detail. It wasn’t the most unique of pieces, but I’ve already gotten a ton of wear out of this long gold necklace.
Stone Tassle Necklace – $5
The opal stones really stood out to me with, and I thought the tassle detail made it a little different. This isn’t something I would normally buy, but for $5 dollars there was no reason to even think twice.
Bronze Rhinestone Ring – $2 Black & Gold Square Ring – $7
So, I honestly got the bronze ring because it was $2 and I have been looking for a round bronze ring to go with a necklace I already own.
I think this black and gold square ring is my favorite item I got on this flea market jewelry haul. It looks way more expensive then $7, and it goes with everything. I am trying to figure out what material this ring is made out of because it doesn’t have a scratch on it, and I have worn it in the shower a couple times and it hasn’t turned. It kind of gives me a David Yurman vibe because of the braided detail around the main black stone. LOVE THIS RING!
Gold Clip On Earrings – $4
I mean do these scream 90’s or what?! I think these are the only clip on earrings I own, and I was a little worried they would hurt, but they are extremly light weight. Can’t wait to rock these with my braids when I feel like channeling Janet Jackson from Poetic Justice.
UFO Black & Gold Earrings – $4
Anything that is black and gold usually catches my attention, and these earrings got me! They are simple, and are 14 K gold plated!
Burgundy Beaded Hoop – $ FREE
The lady who ran the booth threw in these earring for free for me, since I bought alot. I thought they were cute and that day I was wearing a burgundy top so it just went well with my outfit. These are going to be great in the fall with natural tones.
Tribal Cuff – $4
I couldn’t leave this cuff there, especially for 4 bucks! Clearly I love gold jewelry so this wasn’t even something to think about. Just throw it in the bag!
Interchangeablel Minerva Watch – $10
I saved the best for last! First off this watch was brand spanking new, so I didn’t have to worry about the battery being dead. Alot of times when you get watches at thrift shops, or flea markets they are just for fashion because the battery is dead and annoying to replace. So, when I saw that this actually worked I got so excited. Not, only is this a cute gold hinged watch , it comes with SEVEN changeable faces. Of course I had to get this! I have been wearing this every day and I keep getting compliments. Pieces like this is why I love flea markets, this is a one of a kind watch, and I love to be original.
Total Spent – $50
So, the next time your driving and you see a flea market or even a random thrift shop..STOP THE CAR! You might be surprised with what hidden gems you find, and supporting local business is always good… So, it is a win win!
Special thanks to Joanne for being so patient with my friends and I! Visit her on Saturday’s & Sunday’s in the Delaretos parking lot, 15 minutes before Atlantic City in Absecon, NJ.
