10 Beauty Trend’s That Can Stay in 2016!

As the year dwindles down, I start to think; what do I need to get rid of before the New Year? If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat you’ve noticed that this year I bought more beauty products than ever. With hundreds of new trends and products, we see from the top bloggers and influencers, we think we can do it all. Ummm… NOPE, think again! Check out my list of top beauty trends we need to leave in 2016 and never look back!

Boxy Eyebrows

This is the most important trend of all. Now, I unfortunately haven’t been blessed with thick eye-brows, so filling them in is a MUST! But, these boxy, super dark, Oscar the Grouch eye brows are not attractive.  We need to do better ladies, and focus on a more subtle soft brow. Eyebrows are the focal point of our face, and this needs to stop now!

Over Concealed Eyebrows

This piggy backs off the boxy eyebrows epidemic. But, concealing your eyebrows is crucial to making your eye-brows pop and look neat. However, it is important to blend the concealer! Concealing around your eye brows without properly blending defeats the purpose. When you don’t blend you look like you have outlined your eyebrows in chalk. Blending is your friend ladies.

Double Buns

The top knot, and high bun have been popular for a couple years now. But, specifically I am talking about these pigtail buns. It really makes you look like a ten year old. Now, don’t get me wrong some people can pull this look off without a doubt. But on the other hand, the majority of us look ridiculous. #takethosebunsout

Horribly Glued Lashes

Have you ever seen a girl with lashes on, and at the base of the lash its thick and clumpy. Yeah…. we are leaving that in 2016. Personally, I am not the best at applying my own lashes, which is why I rarely wear them. If you can NOT apply lashes properly, then you should not be wearing them. Nothing is worse than a woman with some caked on lash glue, it looks so dirty.

Over Highlighting

2016 opened my eyes to highlighting. I love my Anastasia Glow Kit more than all my other highlighters I’ve tried this year. But, its soooooooo easy to over do it. That lit from within glow, has a strict LESS is MORE policy.  Over highlighting your lip and nose looks like you have a sparkly mustache. Highlighting is key for the perfect look, remember everything in moderation.

Fake Freckles

Now, if the Lord didn’t bless you with freckles… why on earth are you using eye liner to achieve this? There isn’t much that needs to be said about this, but if you don’t have freckles in real life, don’t draw them on. You look ridiculous. #wipeoffyourfreckles

White Setting Powder

Setting powder is necessary to reduce fine lines, set your concealer/ foundation which gives that photo finish look. But, setting powder is NOT for every day because it is best when photographed. Too much setting powder gives your face a chalky over tone, which looks horrible. If you MUST use setting powder on a  daily basis, invest in one that is slightly pigmented to reduce that ashy look. If you are a woman of color, think twice before you slather your face in this powder. Because 90% of the time when you go out side you will look like a ghost.

Waist Trainers

I personally, don’t see why the CDC has’t banned these contraptions. For the past few years women have been squishing their organs to get a small waist, and a big butt. But, it just isn’t cute. First off, you can see it under your clothes so you look lumpy. Secondly, the longterm effects of wearing the waist trainer makes you look unnatural and unhealthy. Go to the gym, cut out carbs, and do some squats like the rest of us.

Too Light/Dark Foundation

As a woman of color, all my life I have struggled to find the perfect foundation. Nothing is worse than your face being a different color than your neck. But, I have noticed it’s not just women of color that are struggling to find the right foundation, its EVERYONE. With there being so many types of foundation and resources, to find the perfect shade, there is no reason to have that two tone thing going on. Do your research, consult with a beauty expert and find your shade.

Over Contouring

Last, but DEFINITELY not least; 2016 has been the year of the contour. Pretty much any makeup lover has bought a contour kit and has played around in it. But, we all are NOT experts and many of us need to have to a seat. Contouring is meant to shape your face using lighter or darker shades of foundation/concealer. But, the issue is that people are OVER contouring. If your face looks like a box, or your jaw looks sharp enough to cut someone…. you might of contoured too much. Blending is key, and understanding what areas of your face to contour is important too. Im tired of seeing these skinny noses and boxy chins. Put, the contour kit down if you don’t know what you’re doing.

2016 has been one hell of year. We are all guilty of one or more of these trends; so don’t take it personally. Leave it in 2016 and let’s do better in 2017 ladies!

Thanks for reading and happy New Year!

What Beauty Subscription Box Should I Try?

Hi my loves!

Have you noticed that every where you turn there is a new subscription service? From dog treats, fresh food and hand picked outfits, every company seems to be coming out with a new service to join. Well..I have tried a bunch and I wish I did a little  more research before getting sucked in. Check out my reviews below of some subscription boxes you should try or pass on.

Birchbox

birchbox

Birchbox is one of my favorites . For only $10 a month I am always anticipating its arrival in the mail. The samples are a perfect size for you to decide if you want to buy a full version. You also get rewards for writing reviews and discounts on products. The only con I have is  when they allow you to “choose your sample” it’s always sold out, no matter how quick I am! Otherwise, this is one of the best value boxes I have tried.

Rocksbox

Forbes-RocksBox-Product

I used Rocksbox for about 7 months and I really did love the jewelry. This subscription service will mail you a custom set of jewelry (usually 3 pieces) for 19 bucks a month. Then you send the jewelry back or you can buy it at a cheaper price. The problem with this for me was I wanted to keep everything , and the jewelry ranged from $20 – $100 depending on the piece. I found my self spending way more than I planned to, because I just LOVED EVERYTHING! So, if you have self control and can return amazing jewelry then this is a great subscription service for you.

Julep Maven

maven1

Sorry to say this was my least favorite box. First off, 24.99 a month is a lot when you are doing multiple subscriptions and you don’t love the items you are receiving. I’m a huge nail polish lover but out of the 2 polishes each month, I only liked one. Now, if you are a fan of Julep polishes then this subscription is worth it since one bottle costs $14. But, I love too many brands to commit to this monthly. They also pair 2 polishes with a beauty item and I never liked the product that came in the box (you can opt for 3 polishes, instead of the beauty product). Overall, I would recommend this to someone who is trying to stock up on Julep nail polish and just loves the brand.

Ipsy

dprD9zNF

The Ipsy beauty bag is equal to Birchbox in my opinion. For $10 a month you get a makeup bag with 5 samples. This box is similar to Birchbox, they have some of the same samples and work with similar brands. I love that the Ipsy beauty bag is a reusable little makeup case. I also feel like I receive nail polish samples more with Ipsy. I recommend trying this service, but you don’t need to subscribe to both Birchbox and Ipsy.

Allure Beauty Box

october-allure-beauty-box

For $15 a month you get multiple “deluxe” sized samples from the beauty editors of Allure. I tried this box for a couple of months, and had no complaints. I find both Birchbox and Ipsy  have more unique and exclusive samples. Sometimes in the Allure beauty box you receive products that you can buy at the drug store. The Allure Beauty Box also comes with a beauty magazine with tips and reviews monthly.

Color Me  Monthly

Nail-Polish-Subscriptions

This nail polish subscription is $7 a month. Every month you receive a unique nail polish that is made in the USA and is 3 -free. This is a great box if you just want a new polish every month, and you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg. The nail polish is great quality and this will help you build up your nail polish collection without doing any work.

*all of these boxes are great gifts too!

There is a subscription box for everyone out there. But, before you sign up just double check if you actually need the products on a monthly basis and it’s worth the cost. Take it from me… signing up for all these different things can add up quick!

10 Nail Artist’s I Love On Instagram!

Hi Loves!

I have been doing tons of research on nail artist’s, trends and salons in the area for a little project I am working on, and I have been keeping an eye on a few particular Instagrammers. Instagram keeps me up to date with every celebrity, gives me style ideas, and most importantly introduces me to a world of amazing nail artists. In this post I want to share with you 10 of my favorite nail artists you MUST follow on Instagram. These ladies give me unique nail art ideas, bring me up to speed with the newest nail products and remind me of how beautifully intricate nail art can be.

@hannahroxit

With over 93,000 followers, Hannah Lee is no novice. She is all about simplicity with a twist. Hannah uses mainstream and high end polishes that you have probably seen in your local salon. I personally go to her for nail inspiration all the time, because her designs are my style.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 9.47.11 PM

 @chalkboardnails

Sarah of Chalkboard Nails is my nail soul sista! I have never seen a design of her’s that I did not like, or would not try on my own nails. Sarah uses mainstream polishes on natural nails and her designs are unique. And I especially love when she does nail art based off of an image or object. It really shows you how much of an artist she truly is.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 9.49.11 PM

@nails_by_millyp

I love that Milly is an emerging nail artist, and works with a ton of indie nail polish brands. But, this girl kills the free hand nail art. You won’t see her using any stamps, her attention to detail and her quirky designs always make you check out her feed.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 9.48.50 PM

@shellbeezy

This NYC based nail artist is always bringing something new to the table. Whether it is a perfect plain mani, super-detailed, or decals she delivers perfect work. I especially love that she still uses nail wraps. I have been loving nail wraps for years now and they started to dwindle away, but I love how she incorporates them into some of here manicures.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 9.54.05 PM

@strawbrie

Brie has the best swatches, and some really fun designs. The reason why I love her Instagram is that her personality shines through her nail art. I like that she introduces me to new organic products and nail polishes that I am not familiar with. And can we just admire how perfect her nail beds are !?!

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 9.55.23 PM@chelseaqueen

Nails that embody high fashion, well.. thats Chelsea. Her designs are modern, sleek and edgy. Which makes sense as to why she is one the hottest nail artists on the west coast. No matter what the occasion, or what you are wearing if you check out Chelsea’s page you can find a design to match your swag.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 9.56.12 PM

@ciaomanhattan2012

Mei is a Japanese nail artist who has made a name for her self in the big apple. Every nail design that Mei does is intricate and fun. Some of her designs are a little over the top for me, but I am jealous that I don’t have the guts to try some of her cool designs. But, if you are looking for that nail artist who can do crazy 3D nails to natural and girly.. Mei is your go to.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 9.56.31 PM

@banicured_

Bana has the best tutorials. I am nail obsessed and I try to teach my self new techniques all the time, and Bana’s instagram keeps me in the know. She also has the most beautifully shaped natural nails, and kills at free hand nail art.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 9.58.16 PM

@ohmygoshpolish

Out of all of the nail artists I follow, Tamara by far has the most content on her page. She posts a new manicure or tutorial EVERY SINGLE DAY! So, there are literally thousands of manicures to look through and you will never get bored of her designs.

Screen Shot 2016-02-03 at 9.57.37 PM

@britneytokyo

Britney is the queen of the over the top nail, and she is killing the nail scene in Hollywood. If you are looking for nails that make a statement, with attention to details  then check out Britney’s Instagram account. She mainly does acrylics and gels, but the way this girl can pack a ton of detail on one finger nail is insane!

January Beauty Empties!

Hi there!

So, while everyone is saying “2016!, New year, New me”. I’m sitting here typing and thinking “New year, New makeup!” LOL. I was going through my makeup and realized its time to de-clutter and stop trying to squeeze the last drop out of my favorite products.

Check out my favorite products that I have been using for the past couple months.

Urban Decay – Naked Skin Foundation $40

604214659605_nakedfoundation_12-0

I don’t normally like to try new foundations, but my makeup artist used this on my wedding day and I loved how it came out. So, heres the scoop! This foundation really gives you a flawless finish, and I love how you can go from light to heavy coverage.  The only con is I finished this WAYYYY too quickly. The amount in the bottle is a lot less than I am used to compared to my Mac Matchmaster. Overall, this is a good foundation but you will have to replenish quickly.

Smash box Brow Tech To Go $28

_6054294

Bow down to this brow pencil! This is something I can NOT live without. The eyebrow pencil is angled, so for us novice makeup artists, it makes angling your brows very simple. The gel mascara on the opposite end gives the perfect finishing touch to set your brows. I am NOT known for being great at applying makeup, and really have taught my self everything I know.  I am always afraid that my eyebrows are going to look VERY penciled in… But, this pencil doesn’t go on too dark and is very build-able. The only con with this product is that the pencil breaks a little too easy. So, be careful and make sure to keep the cover on it.

Makeover Essentials Make-Up Wipes $16

41YsKckX-jL

I used to think makeup removing wipes were a waste of money. Then, I realized how much makeup was left on my skin, even after washing my face! I received a bunch of items from this brand to try, and my favorite item is this wipe. Most, makeup wipes you need a bunch to remove everything, however; with this brand you use one and your done. I have tried so many brands and this just seems to work the best for me and in turn I have been getting less breakouts.

Clearing Skin Wash by Dermalogica $36

clearing-skin-wash_46-01_590x617

There isn’t much needed to be said about this product, other than BUY THIS NOW! I am a firm believer of anything Dermalogica but this is the best face wash for acne prone skin. It is worth every penny, and one big bottle lasts me at least 6 months.

Royal Blowout by Oribe $68

royal_blowout_heat_styling

If you haven’t heard of Oribe, you might want to splurge and checkout some of their products. This line of hair products is quite pricey but this thermal blowout spray by Oribe is the best. I have seen this product work on both fine and thin hair, to thick and coarse hair equally well. This spray provides great thermal protection, and makes blowing out my natural hair so easy.  At $68 a bottle this product is definitely not for everyone, but if you want a great thermal protectant that is going to give you an easy blowout; GET THIS! I’m not too sure if I would love this product so much, if I blew my hair out every day, since it is one of the priciest hair products I own.

Creme of Nature Argan Oil Gloss & Shine Polisher $8

6a0120a861ac26970b0147e2e6ba06970b

Heat damage is the bane of everyone women’s existence. It seems inevitable to me, but with this product I know that I am protecting my natural hair as much as possible. I love this product because every drop goes a long way, plus the high gloss shine makes your hair look very healthy. With this product, less is more because if you use too much your hair will be stiff and greasy; not cute!

Hyperlash Mascara by Smashbox $23

SB_C510_SKUC51001_340

Hyperlash has been my go to mascara for about 3 years, and it hasn’t let me down yet. The brush is thin enough that it gets around my curled lashes, and also separates them very well. This mascara is meant for separation and length in my opinion. If you are looking for volume than this is not the product for you.

Thank you so much for reading!

Love you mean it.

The Best Boots For Your Shape!

Hey loves!

I can’t deny it any more,  Fall is here! As much as I’d rather wear a dress and sandals, this is one of my favorite times of year. But, it’s always a shock to my system when I have to start wearing boots again! There are so many styles of boots, and body types play a factor in what pair looks best! Not that we can’t rock any pair , but some styles look better than others.

Check out this list of the best boots to buy depending on your legs!

Petite

My ladies with a petite body type, you are going to want a shorter boot with a sky high heel. Ankle boots or mid calf boots work  as long as they have some sort of heel. This will make your legs look longer, and the heel will give you height. I know when you hear heel, you think UNCOMFORTABLE! But, a chunky stacked heel will make you feel like your walking on clouds.

Slim Legs

Those with slim legs can really rock any pair of boot out there. But, the best pair are over the knee boots! These styles just accentuate your legs even more and give you height even if you went with a flat style.

Athletic Build

If you are a women with an athletic figure you want to go for a low cut boot that is feminine. This will show off your great calfs and at the same time soften your look. Try out a boot with a little detail. And if you don’t want a heel, a flat ankle boot with a pointed toe will look great too.

Curvy Leg

For my curvy girls, ankle and mid calf boots with a heel works best for you. Over the knee boots should not be your go to. This will only make your hips look wider. A sky-high ankle boot with a rounded toe will match your curves and give you some height.

Plus Sized or Pear Shape

You want to wear a full length heel boot that falls right below the knee. This is to elongate your legs. If you wear an ankle boot , you could look cut off at the leg and stumpy Also, a thick heel helps give you balance and comfort.

Top Trends From New York Fashion Week – Spring 2016

Hey loves!

I know fall has arrived, but spring just hit the runway. New York Fashion Week just ended and all the trends for Spring 2016 are out. Many of the trends for fall are being revamped for a lighter spring look, but there are a ton of new looks to start planning for. Check out my list below of new trends that ripped the runway last week at New York Fashion Week.

Vertical Stripes

This might be my favorite trend from the week. Vertical stripes make you look taller and skinner, is there any other reason to not love this?! LOL

The Baggy Pajama Look

The oversized trouser look has been inching its way on the scene for a while. But, now we are going for oversized pant suits and in silk! This look is definitely for a risk taker, but slouchy black trousers with a simple blouse can be a safer approach to rock this NYFW trend.

Fringe Hem

Fringe was big last fall, and has moved over to spring.  The fringe look can be a bit overwhleming if over done, but I am loving the subtle fringe at the hem of a skirt or shirt.

alice-and-olivia-spring-2016-rtw-new-york-008

Off The Shoulder

Bare shoulders were a reoccurring theme throughout the week.  I love how this look elongates your neck and just makes you look regal. I can’t wait to shop for some off the shoulder dresses this season and let my shoulder’s loose!

You can’t have fringe without crochet! Crochet bathing suits, dresses, blouses, and even pants. Crochet anything works this spring.

Multi Print Outfits

This spring block printing is huge, which compliments the hippie chic theme that is dominating the runway. Block printing is more than one intricate print in one piece of clothing. I don’t think I will be rocking this trend, its just not my style. But, if you love that fun eccentric look will love all of the new dresses coming out in spring; ESPECIALLY Diane Von Furstenburg’s collection.

Orange Galore

It seems like orange will be the color of the year. Orange accents were all over the runway last week, and I like it. Orange is a color that can be worn every season, and goes well with fair and dark skin tones.

Ruffles

Ruffled hems, ruffled sleeves, ruffles, ruffles, and more ruffles.  Just like fringe, I like this in moderation. Too much ruffle can make you look like a loofah, and no one wants to look like a loofah. I am obsessed with this dress by Jason Wu, its the perfect combination of ruffle and the leather adds some masculinity to the look. LOVE IT! Someone buy me this dress please!

New Product’s I Love: Le Volume De Chanel

Hey loves!

I love trying new product’s and the mascara Le Volume De Chanel is a new product I love!

Not going to lie… I love anything Chanel LOL! But, Le Volume De Chanel is unbelievably good. I have been using Hyperlash by Smashox for the past 2 years religously, because of it’s thin brush. My eyelashes are very curly so a mascara with a thin brush usually works best for me. The brush on Le Volume De Chanel is little bigger than what I normally go for, but this stuff works. With one coat my lashes were extremly black and separated. Something about the mini bristles on the brush really makes your lashes full and volumous. Also, this mascara does not flake to leave that annoying residue on your face. If you are looking for a mascara that gives you tons of volume and covers every lash with one coat then get this! Le Volume De Chanel is definitely worth the splurge.

Also available in waterproof, brown and dark blue.

Stop The Car….. I See A Flea Market!

Hey loves!

A few weeks back a group of friend’s and I were heading to Atlantic City when we saw a huge flea market right in the WaWa parking lot. So, of course I screamed for my friend to stop the car! I wasn’t too sure what we would find, but I had a feeling this would be a memorable and MUCH needed pit stop.

I know alot of people who are skeeved out by flea markets and thrift shopping, and I just don’t understand it. I mean its not like we are buying used underwear.. LOL! I personally love second hand items because there is always a story behind each piece, and its great wearing something that you know is vintage and that no one else will have.

While I was walking up and down the aisles of this flea market there were tons of stuff I wasn’t intrested in like, old tools, cassettes, figurines, and a ton of other tchocke stuff. But, as I made a turn to look at another table, I saw a slew of jewelry! umm….JACKPOT!

Check out what I got!

Bam Bam Necklace – $10

unnamed (19)

unnamed (25)

This gold necklace reminds me of something you would see on the Flinstones. It’s chunky and so unique, and did I mention 18K gold plated! I love how it lays flat, and will bring life to any plain top. I can’t WAIT to rock this necklace.

Tassel Necklace – $4

unnamed (30)

unnamed (31)

Love this simple tassle necklace with rhinestone detail. It wasn’t the most unique of pieces, but I’ve already gotten a ton of wear out of this long gold necklace.

Stone Tassle Necklace – $5

unnamed (18)

unnamed (32)

The opal stones really stood out to me with, and I thought the tassle detail made it a little different. This isn’t something I would normally buy, but for $5 dollars there was no reason to even think twice.

Bronze Rhinestone Ring – $2  Black & Gold Square Ring – $7

unnamed (26)

So, I honestly got the bronze ring because it was $2 and I have been looking for a round bronze ring to go with a necklace I already own.

I think this black and gold square ring is my favorite item I got on this flea market jewelry haul. It looks way more expensive then $7, and it goes with everything. I am trying to figure out what material this ring is made out of because it doesn’t have a scratch on it, and I have worn it in the shower a couple times and it hasn’t turned. It kind of gives me a David Yurman vibe because of the braided detail around the main black stone. LOVE THIS RING!

Gold Clip On Earrings – $4

unnamed (16)

I mean do these scream 90’s or what?! I think these are the only clip on earrings I own, and I was a little worried they would hurt, but they are extremly light weight. Can’t wait to rock these with my braids when I feel like channeling Janet Jackson from Poetic Justice.

UFO Black & Gold Earrings – $4

unnamed (23)

Anything that is black and gold usually catches my attention, and these earrings got me! They are simple, and are 14 K gold plated!

Burgundy Beaded Hoop – $ FREE

unnamed (28)

The lady who ran the booth threw in these earring for free for me, since I bought alot. I thought they were cute and that day I was wearing a burgundy top so it just went well with my outfit. These are going to be great in the fall with natural tones.

Tribal Cuff – $4

unnamed (24)

I couldn’t leave this cuff there, especially for 4 bucks! Clearly I love gold jewelry so this wasn’t even something to think about. Just throw it in the bag!

Interchangeablel Minerva Watch – $10

unnamed (22)

unnamed (21)

I saved the best for last! First off this watch was brand spanking new, so I didn’t have to worry about the battery being dead. Alot of times when you get watches at thrift shops, or flea markets they are just for fashion because the battery is dead and annoying to replace. So, when I saw that this actually worked I got so excited. Not, only is this a cute gold hinged watch , it comes with SEVEN changeable faces. Of course I had to get this! I have been wearing this every day and I keep getting compliments. Pieces like this is why I love flea markets, this is a one of a kind watch, and I love to be original.

Total Spent – $50

So, the next time your driving and you see a flea market or even a random thrift shop..STOP THE CAR! You might be surprised with what hidden gems you find, and supporting local business is always good… So, it is a win win!

Special thanks to Joanne for being so patient with my friends and I! Visit her on Saturday’s & Sunday’s in the Delaretos parking lot, 15 minutes before Atlantic City in Absecon, NJ.

10 Fashion & Nail Blogs You Must Follow!

Hi there!

So, today is June 15th.. and it’s my BIRTHDAY! Twenty-five was a year full of many ups and downs, but it was one of the best years of my life and I hope 26 is just as great!

One of my favorite things to do is just, chill with a cup of my favorite tea, and catch up on all my favorite blogs. I wouldn’t have taken a leap of faith into blogging, with out some insipiration. I want to share with you all a list of my favorite nail and fashion bloggers that inspire me daily.

Nailed It

Katy is extremly talented with free hand ! And she is always on point when keeping me up to date on all the new swatches of my favorite nail polish brands. But can we just talk about how amazing her nail art is. I love the super intricate hand designs she does. I wish I had the patience and steady hands to try half of her art work.

Chelsea Queen

Chelsea King is a nail artist from Southern California and she great at “inspired nails”. Meaning she can see anything and recreate it as nail art, and it’s simply amazing. She pays so much attention to detail and I am always so excited to see what she does next . Chelsea also keeps me up to date with indie brand polishes too.

Fashion Bomb Daily

I love everything about Fashion Bomb Daily! Claire Sulmers created this site to curate everything there is to know about celebrities and fashion. It’s like my TMZ of fashion, and I read it daily. I love getting the latest of what the celebrities are wearing and exactly where to buy it. This blog always has so much content , so there is always something to catch up on. And don’t worry this is not just a fashion blog, there is a section with latest on hair, beauty and men’s style.

All Lacquered Up

All Lacquered Up is my go to for swatches. I really consider this blog to be the swatch bible! Michelle doesn’t just review high end brands, no brand is off limits and that’s my favorite thing about this blog. I also learn a lot about unique indie nail brands I wouldn’t normally come across .

RacheletNicole

Rachel and Nicole are sisters with an eclectic, quirky, not-afraid-to-take-risks type of style. I love how their style is never predictable, yet always FUN! These New York based sisters give me the courage to take risks in my outfit choices.

Song of Style

You probably have heard of Aimee Song..  and if you haven’t now your going to be obsessed with her life. Aimee is a California based fashion blogger with a classic/ modern sense of style. To this day, I have never seen her in an outfit I wouldnt wear. Not only is she a brand ambassador for a number of huge brands. She is an avid traveler, and always documents her vacays. So, I stalk her instagram on a daily to keep up with her fabulousness.

Miss Ellarie

Ellarie is a beauty blogger and makeup artist who gives the best tips and tricks through her makeup videos. I wish I was as good at doing my make up as Ellarie, and sometimes I even think I am, but I come out of the bathroom looking like a clown. But, HEY a  girl can dream LOL! Ellarie also reviews most of the new products from the popular brands, so I always check her blog out before trying something new because her reviews are dead on!

The Blonde Salad

Chiara Ferragani is just so fabulously fashionable, as she travels the world attending the most elite fashion events and modeling for prestigous brands. She also has her own shoe line, that is flirty and fun. She is another celebrity blogger that I just love to live vicariously through. She is an inspiration as to what kind of fashion blogger I  would love to be one day, and reading her blog definitley pushes me.

Chalkboard Nails

Chalkboard Nails is a blog for every nail addict out there. She has a seperate section just for nail tutorials that will keep you occupied for hours. If you are looking for a one stop shop to find out the latest on every single polish and trend out there, Chalkboard Nails is the place to go. Not only are her tutorials unique, there’s so much content on her site that it’s  organized into many different categories to find exactly what you are looking for.

Penny Pincher

Kimberly is a fashion blogger who focuses on making affordable pieces look expensive. I love the idea of having  a blog that taylors to all types of people. Let’s be real, the majority of people don’t own a Celine Bag or Guiseppe heels so it’s great that she styles items from mainstream afforadable stores. I check out Penny Pincher for her outfit ideas most of the time, but you can find out about beauty products, travel and gift ideas too.

So, those are some of my favorite blogs I check out on the daily now a days. If you don’t have Blog Lovin, you should download it (and follow me too! ) . It is a great app and website to follow your favorite blogs in one place, and get notifications when new content is available. It just makes blog reading SO much easier.

Thanks for checking out my blog!

The Best Day of My Life..

You don’t understand how time consuming planning a wedding is; until your.. well PLANNING A WEDDING! I can remember the first day I got engaged and now I have been married for a month. Time truly flies, and the best advice I can give to any new bride is to soak up EVERY SECOND of this time in your life, because getting married is such an indescribeable feeling.

They tell you that as soon as you say ” I do” things instantly change. That sounded crazy to me, because I couldn’t understand how saying two simple words could change EVERYTHING! Especially when I felt things were pretty great in my relationship already.

But, it did! Something happens when you express to your close family and friends your unconditional love for someone, it changes you. I never knew I could feel so connected to another person in my entire life. This man isn’t my boyfriend, or fiance, he is my HUSBAND forever.

Our wedding day was April 23, 2015 and we chose The Rockleigh Country Club as our wedding venue in New Jersey. As soon as we visited The Rockleigh we knew we had to get married there. We previously saw about 30 wedding venues and we were just in awe as soon as we walked in. The premises were so pristine and elegant that it just seemed like the perfect choice for our simple, elegant, wedding.

Now, just for the record I didn’t hire a wedding planner for two reasons. First, I thought it was a waste of my money. I know wedding planners work hard to bring your  ideas to life, but I just didn’t want to spend the money when I knew I could do it my self. Secondly, I have trust issues, and would have been micromanaging whoever I hired! In hindsight, I should have hired a wedding coordinator just to alleviate some stress while planning all the little details. But, for the most part if you are newly engaged you can really save money by planning on your own.

The color’s of our wedding were gold and emerald green.

The flowers we used throughout the wedding were white roses and white lisianthus.

I made all of the place cards, and frames my selves. I am not really the best at DIY projects, but I love how everything came out.

My bouquet consisted of white roses, white lisianthus, white freesia, white dendrobium orchids, eucalyptus, and green berries.

For the reception area we wanted to keep the room romantic and dim so we opted for;  hundred of candles, tall glass stem vases combined with floating candles, white roses, and lisianthus.

Now, let’s get to the dress! I tried on a bunch of dresses, all different styles because I really had no clue what I wanted. I thought I needed to try on everything because I didn’t want to miss out on the dress of my dreams! But as soon as this Vera Wang gown touched my skin I knew it was the one. What really stood out to me most with this gown, was the halter top and the flower details. It was pretty hard to find a dress that wasn’t  strapless, so that really caught my eye.

It kills me that I will never be able to wear my Vera Wang dress again. Ultimately, I want to have my dress framed and hung in my closet. But, until then I’ll continue to hug it every morning!

My maid of honor had these Converse made for me to change into during the reception.

I wore a 130 inch cathedral drop veil. I loved how delicate and grand it looked with my gown.

For my wedding nails, I decided to do a lace detailed manicure that I tried before in the past and loved. I had my fellow nail guru Cassandra do my nails, and they came out perfectly! The color is Brigette by Zoya.

Most brides see their groom for the first time when they walk down the aisle. But, my husband and I decided we wanted to do a first look before the ceremony to get rid of any jitters. This really was one of the most memorable moments of my wedding day, and I recommend this to any future bride who wants to get the bulk of their pictures done prior to the ceremony. I am so grateful we decided to do this because I would have been even more of a nervous wreck walking down the aisle, then I already was.

The entertainment at my wedding was amazing. Absolute Celebrations had my guests ready to turn up as soon as the reception started. Everyone knows good music makes a party, and I was so worried about that. But I really had nothing to worry about, everything was on point! I still have people telling me how great the DJ and MC were.

Advice to future brides

1. Don’t worry about the little details. On your big day your not going to worry about if your flower girl basket and ring barrier pillow match. In the grand scheme of things, NO ONE cares or notices these things.

2. Make sure you pick the right wedding party! I cant stress this point enough . You want to have a wedding party that will help alleviate stress not cause it. I was very lucky to have such great bridesmaids to share this time with.

3. Make sure you cut corners and budget in the right places. For instance, don’t get a cheap inexperienced photographer and splurge on flowers. Remember it is only one night , so think of what you are actually going to keep from that day. Flowers die, pictures are forever.

I am beyond thankful and blessed to have had such a beautiful wedding. Thank you to my gorgeous mother, mother in law, bridesmaids, family, friends and my husband for helping make this day perfect.

DSC_76831

Getting married was like adding a period to the sentence which was our love. I just feel so complete, and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect, more beautiful, more honest wedding day. It was the best day of my life.
