April Beauty Empties!

Hey loves!

Happy spring! I am trying to purge and get rid of some of the clutter in my apartment, and that starts with getting rid of my beauty empties. Now, that I am literally a subscriber to every beauty box out there, I have way more products then ever! Check out these beauty products that I LOVE and have been using the past couple of months.

Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel $41 ON SALE

This gel cleanser is great for all skin types. I typically have acne prone skin, so I use products with Salycillic Acid which tend to dry out my skin. However, this cleaner is infused with mint and lavender which calms my skin. I use this in the mornings and use my medicated face wash at night to give my skin a break. I definitely will be purchasing this product again.

Aqua Moist Gel by Sally’s Box $43

I received this in one of my Ipsy bags a few months ago… and it was history from there. This water based gel moisturizer, leaves my face feeling so hydrated! Since it contains aloe vera gel, it is soothing and leaves my skin noticably soft. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!

M.A.C. Patent Polish Lip Pencil in Sultana $21

I’ve talked about this lip gloss before, and nothing has changed. This is my daily lip color, and I pray M.A.C. doesn’t discontinue it ( I always feel like the products I love are limited edition ). I know matte lip gloss is the trend, but I just hate the feeling of dry lips. This lipstick is creamy, and lasts for hours. Get this, you will not be disappointed.

AVON Clearskin Professional Deep Pore Cleaning Scrub $4.59

My mother in law is chemist for AVON, so I am always trying out their products. I have tried many of their face washes but this cleaner is the best. This cleansing  scrub is packed with Salicylic acid and scrubber beads that make their way deep into your pores to prevent breakouts. I have been using this product for a couple of years now, and I HIGHLY recommend!

Overnight Clearing Gel by Dermalogica $50

This is a topical gel treatment to prevent night time breakouts. It is a little pricey but significantly helps shrink my pimples. I am not sure if I will purchase this product again because I have used a few less expensive alternatives that work just the same.

The PORE-fessional Face Primer by Benefit $30

I have heard great things about this primer, so I decided to try it. Unfortunately, I hated it. The consistency of the primer is what bothered me, I felt like it didn’t blend into my skin well and was a bit cakey. I understand that it is supposed to fill your pores like putty, to create a smooth surface for your foundation. But, it just didn’t work for me. I do not recommend this primer.

Dior Addict It-Lash Mascara $29

Love this mascara! I stumbled upon it because my normal Diorshow mascara was out of stock. I quickly read some great reviews about this product, and I was not disappointed. The applicator separates and lengths my curly lashes. It also has a spiked ball separator on the end to get into the corners. I will purchase this mascara in the future.

Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner – Marc Jacobs $25

Am I the only one who hates sharpening eye liners? Well.. because I have stabbed my self too many times with pencil eye liners, I only use gel liners and this stuff is the TRUTH! It glides on effortlessly, last for 12 hours, and is waterproof. This is now the only eyeliner I ever need. Oh! and it has a built in sharpener at the base. All in all, this is a great product and worth the price.

LA Girl HD Pro Concealer $4.99

This makeup staple never lets me down. I have this in many colors, but I use Toast most. I think the main reason I love this concealer, is the brush applicator. It helps me shape my eye brows and contour effortlessly. Also, because the packaging is soft you are able to squeeze out every last drop of product.

Urban Decay All NighterMakeup Setting Spray $10

I bought this on a whim, while standing online at Sephora (the impulse buy tunnel of death). I forgot I needed a setting spray, and saw this was only 10 bucks! Now, this came in a  travel size and lasted for about 6 months! So, that alone makes me want to buy this product again. The setting spray mists evenly and feels light, NOT crunchy as I have found with other setting sprays. I will purchase this product again.

Thanks for reading, it means the world to me!  Don’t forget you can join my mailing list here for updates on new posts, giveaways, newsletters and more.

Headshots & Brunch with Rogerio Bussad

Hey loves!

The summer is going by so fast! Between work, and having a packed social calendar for the past 6 weeks, I haven’t had much time to blog!

But, a couple of weeks ago my good friend and photographer Rogerio Bussad and his husband Garry came over for a mimosa brunch while we had an amazing photoshoot at my apartment. I needed his help with some headshots for a project that I am working on and boy, did he deliver! Working with Rogerio is always a pleasure, because he brings passion to every single shot, and makes me feel so comfortable behind the lens.

Here’s a peek at some of our best shots!

What Beauty Subscription Box Should I Try?

Hi my loves!

Have you noticed that every where you turn there is a new subscription service? From dog treats, fresh food and hand picked outfits, every company seems to be coming out with a new service to join. Well..I have tried a bunch and I wish I did a little  more research before getting sucked in. Check out my reviews below of some subscription boxes you should try or pass on.

Birchbox

birchbox

Birchbox is one of my favorites . For only $10 a month I am always anticipating its arrival in the mail. The samples are a perfect size for you to decide if you want to buy a full version. You also get rewards for writing reviews and discounts on products. The only con I have is  when they allow you to “choose your sample” it’s always sold out, no matter how quick I am! Otherwise, this is one of the best value boxes I have tried.

Rocksbox

Forbes-RocksBox-Product

I used Rocksbox for about 7 months and I really did love the jewelry. This subscription service will mail you a custom set of jewelry (usually 3 pieces) for 19 bucks a month. Then you send the jewelry back or you can buy it at a cheaper price. The problem with this for me was I wanted to keep everything , and the jewelry ranged from $20 – $100 depending on the piece. I found my self spending way more than I planned to, because I just LOVED EVERYTHING! So, if you have self control and can return amazing jewelry then this is a great subscription service for you.

Julep Maven

maven1

Sorry to say this was my least favorite box. First off, 24.99 a month is a lot when you are doing multiple subscriptions and you don’t love the items you are receiving. I’m a huge nail polish lover but out of the 2 polishes each month, I only liked one. Now, if you are a fan of Julep polishes then this subscription is worth it since one bottle costs $14. But, I love too many brands to commit to this monthly. They also pair 2 polishes with a beauty item and I never liked the product that came in the box (you can opt for 3 polishes, instead of the beauty product). Overall, I would recommend this to someone who is trying to stock up on Julep nail polish and just loves the brand.

Ipsy

dprD9zNF

The Ipsy beauty bag is equal to Birchbox in my opinion. For $10 a month you get a makeup bag with 5 samples. This box is similar to Birchbox, they have some of the same samples and work with similar brands. I love that the Ipsy beauty bag is a reusable little makeup case. I also feel like I receive nail polish samples more with Ipsy. I recommend trying this service, but you don’t need to subscribe to both Birchbox and Ipsy.

Allure Beauty Box

october-allure-beauty-box

For $15 a month you get multiple “deluxe” sized samples from the beauty editors of Allure. I tried this box for a couple of months, and had no complaints. I find both Birchbox and Ipsy  have more unique and exclusive samples. Sometimes in the Allure beauty box you receive products that you can buy at the drug store. The Allure Beauty Box also comes with a beauty magazine with tips and reviews monthly.

Color Me  Monthly

Nail-Polish-Subscriptions

This nail polish subscription is $7 a month. Every month you receive a unique nail polish that is made in the USA and is 3 -free. This is a great box if you just want a new polish every month, and you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg. The nail polish is great quality and this will help you build up your nail polish collection without doing any work.

*all of these boxes are great gifts too!

There is a subscription box for everyone out there. But, before you sign up just double check if you actually need the products on a monthly basis and it’s worth the cost. Take it from me… signing up for all these different things can add up quick!

January Beauty Empties!

Hi there!

So, while everyone is saying “2016!, New year, New me”. I’m sitting here typing and thinking “New year, New makeup!” LOL. I was going through my makeup and realized its time to de-clutter and stop trying to squeeze the last drop out of my favorite products.

Check out my favorite products that I have been using for the past couple months.

Urban Decay – Naked Skin Foundation $40

604214659605_nakedfoundation_12-0

I don’t normally like to try new foundations, but my makeup artist used this on my wedding day and I loved how it came out. So, heres the scoop! This foundation really gives you a flawless finish, and I love how you can go from light to heavy coverage.  The only con is I finished this WAYYYY too quickly. The amount in the bottle is a lot less than I am used to compared to my Mac Matchmaster. Overall, this is a good foundation but you will have to replenish quickly.

Smash box Brow Tech To Go $28

_6054294

Bow down to this brow pencil! This is something I can NOT live without. The eyebrow pencil is angled, so for us novice makeup artists, it makes angling your brows very simple. The gel mascara on the opposite end gives the perfect finishing touch to set your brows. I am NOT known for being great at applying makeup, and really have taught my self everything I know.  I am always afraid that my eyebrows are going to look VERY penciled in… But, this pencil doesn’t go on too dark and is very build-able. The only con with this product is that the pencil breaks a little too easy. So, be careful and make sure to keep the cover on it.

Makeover Essentials Make-Up Wipes $16

41YsKckX-jL

I used to think makeup removing wipes were a waste of money. Then, I realized how much makeup was left on my skin, even after washing my face! I received a bunch of items from this brand to try, and my favorite item is this wipe. Most, makeup wipes you need a bunch to remove everything, however; with this brand you use one and your done. I have tried so many brands and this just seems to work the best for me and in turn I have been getting less breakouts.

Clearing Skin Wash by Dermalogica $36

clearing-skin-wash_46-01_590x617

There isn’t much needed to be said about this product, other than BUY THIS NOW! I am a firm believer of anything Dermalogica but this is the best face wash for acne prone skin. It is worth every penny, and one big bottle lasts me at least 6 months.

Royal Blowout by Oribe $68

royal_blowout_heat_styling

If you haven’t heard of Oribe, you might want to splurge and checkout some of their products. This line of hair products is quite pricey but this thermal blowout spray by Oribe is the best. I have seen this product work on both fine and thin hair, to thick and coarse hair equally well. This spray provides great thermal protection, and makes blowing out my natural hair so easy.  At $68 a bottle this product is definitely not for everyone, but if you want a great thermal protectant that is going to give you an easy blowout; GET THIS! I’m not too sure if I would love this product so much, if I blew my hair out every day, since it is one of the priciest hair products I own.

Creme of Nature Argan Oil Gloss & Shine Polisher $8

6a0120a861ac26970b0147e2e6ba06970b

Heat damage is the bane of everyone women’s existence. It seems inevitable to me, but with this product I know that I am protecting my natural hair as much as possible. I love this product because every drop goes a long way, plus the high gloss shine makes your hair look very healthy. With this product, less is more because if you use too much your hair will be stiff and greasy; not cute!

Hyperlash Mascara by Smashbox $23

SB_C510_SKUC51001_340

Hyperlash has been my go to mascara for about 3 years, and it hasn’t let me down yet. The brush is thin enough that it gets around my curled lashes, and also separates them very well. This mascara is meant for separation and length in my opinion. If you are looking for volume than this is not the product for you.

Thank you so much for reading!

Love you mean it.

New Product’s I Love: Le Volume De Chanel

Hey loves!

I love trying new product’s and the mascara Le Volume De Chanel is a new product I love!

Not going to lie… I love anything Chanel LOL! But, Le Volume De Chanel is unbelievably good. I have been using Hyperlash by Smashox for the past 2 years religously, because of it’s thin brush. My eyelashes are very curly so a mascara with a thin brush usually works best for me. The brush on Le Volume De Chanel is little bigger than what I normally go for, but this stuff works. With one coat my lashes were extremly black and separated. Something about the mini bristles on the brush really makes your lashes full and volumous. Also, this mascara does not flake to leave that annoying residue on your face. If you are looking for a mascara that gives you tons of volume and covers every lash with one coat then get this! Le Volume De Chanel is definitely worth the splurge.

Also available in waterproof, brown and dark blue.

New Product’s I Love! – Tint Skin by Beautycounter

Hey loves!

You ever get tired of all your beauty products? Well, I have been going through this thing where I am not loving any makeup I own and decided to switch some things up! So, I have been going crazy trying new products and I’m loving every second of it.

For the rest of the week I’ll be featuring a new beauty product that I LOVE and doing my first GIVEAWAY because I am so thankful for all of your continued support!

This give away will include a package of the best beauty products valued at $50!

All you have to do is leave a comment on my blog, follow me on Instagram, repost each new product on Instagram and like my Facebook page. To be automatically entered in the giveaway you must repost each new product on Instagram Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The winner will be announced Saturday September 12th!

The first new product that I am in love with is Tint Skin by Beautycounter. I am usually very skeptical with trying new foundations due to my skin tone, and I never find something that blends right. But, this product really proved me wrong! It comes in a pretty good sized tube, like a face cream. I applied this product with the Retractable Complexion Brush that is recommended with this product for light coverage. If you are looking for that no-makeup look, Tint Skin by Beautycounter is the product for you. Warning, this is not for those mornings when your hungover LOL! But, with these humid New York summer day’s I love how light this feels on my face. Tint Skin also comes in many different shades to match any skin tone.

10 Fashion & Nail Blogs You Must Follow!

Hi there!

So, today is June 15th.. and it’s my BIRTHDAY! Twenty-five was a year full of many ups and downs, but it was one of the best years of my life and I hope 26 is just as great!

One of my favorite things to do is just, chill with a cup of my favorite tea, and catch up on all my favorite blogs. I wouldn’t have taken a leap of faith into blogging, with out some insipiration. I want to share with you all a list of my favorite nail and fashion bloggers that inspire me daily.

Nailed It

Image from Nailed It

Katy is extremly talented with free hand ! And she is always on point when keeping me up to date on all the new swatches of my favorite nail polish brands. But can we just talk about how amazing her nail art is. I love the super intricate hand designs she does. I wish I had the patience and steady hands to try half of her art work.

Chelsea Queen

Image from Chelsea Queen

Chelsea King is a nail artist from Southern California and she great at “inspired nails”. Meaning she can see anything and recreate it as nail art, and it’s simply amazing. She pays so much attention to detail and I am always so excited to see what she does next . Chelsea also keeps me up to date with indie brand polishes too.

Fashion Bomb Daily

Image from Clairesulmers.com

I love everything about Fashion Bomb Daily! Claire Sulmers created this site to curate everything there is to know about celebrities and fashion. It’s like my TMZ of fashion, and I read it daily. I love getting the latest of what the celebrities are wearing and exactly where to buy it. This blog always has so much content , so there is always something to catch up on. And don’t worry this is not just a fashion blog, there is a section with latest on hair, beauty and men’s style.

All Lacquered Up

Image from All Lacquered Up

Image from All Lacquered Up

All Lacquered Up is my go to for swatches. I really consider this blog to be the swatch bible! Michelle doesn’t just review high end brands, no brand is off limits and that’s my favorite thing about this blog. I also learn a lot about unique indie nail brands I wouldn’t normally come across .

RacheletNicole

Image from RacheletNicole

Rachel and Nicole are sisters with an eclectic, quirky, not-afraid-to-take-risks type of style. I love how their style is never predictable, yet always FUN! These New York based sisters give me the courage to take risks in my outfit choices.

Song of Style

You probably have heard of Aimee Song..  and if you haven’t now your going to be obsessed with her life. Aimee is a California based fashion blogger with a classic/ modern sense of style. To this day, I have never seen her in an outfit I wouldnt wear. Not only is she a brand ambassador for a number of huge brands. She is an avid traveler, and always documents her vacays. So, I stalk her instagram on a daily to keep up with her fabulousness.

Miss Ellarie

miss ellarie

Image from Miss Ellarie

Ellarie is a beauty blogger and makeup artist who gives the best tips and tricks through her makeup videos. I wish I was as good at doing my make up as Ellarie, and sometimes I even think I am, but I come out of the bathroom looking like a clown. But, HEY a  girl can dream LOL! Ellarie also reviews most of the new products from the popular brands, so I always check her blog out before trying something new because her reviews are dead on!

The Blonde Salad

Image from The Blonde Salad

Chiara Ferragani is just so fabulously fashionable, as she travels the world attending the most elite fashion events and modeling for prestigous brands. She also has her own shoe line, that is flirty and fun. She is another celebrity blogger that I just love to live vicariously through. She is an inspiration as to what kind of fashion blogger I  would love to be one day, and reading her blog definitley pushes me.

Chalkboard Nails

Image from Chalkboard Nails

Chalkboard Nails is a blog for every nail addict out there. She has a seperate section just for nail tutorials that will keep you occupied for hours. If you are looking for a one stop shop to find out the latest on every single polish and trend out there, Chalkboard Nails is the place to go. Not only are her tutorials unique, there’s so much content on her site that it’s  organized into many different categories to find exactly what you are looking for.

Penny Pincher

Kimberly is a fashion blogger who focuses on making affordable pieces look expensive. I love the idea of having  a blog that taylors to all types of people. Let’s be real, the majority of people don’t own a Celine Bag or Guiseppe heels so it’s great that she styles items from mainstream afforadable stores. I check out Penny Pincher for her outfit ideas most of the time, but you can find out about beauty products, travel and gift ideas too.

So, those are some of my favorite blogs I check out on the daily now a days. If you don’t have Blog Lovin, you should download it (and follow me too! ) . It is a great app and website to follow your favorite blogs in one place, and get notifications when new content is available. It just makes blog reading SO much easier.

The Devine Lips of Destiny – Review

I had the pleasure of meeting Dennis Williams, the creator and owner of The Devine Lips of Destiny last week over coffee. As soon as  I met him I knew why he has had so much success with his new line and career. He has a joyous spirit that radiates when he walks into a room. Dennis has a strong background in the performing arts and is a highly sought after impersonator of the stars.  His stage name is Destiny Devine and he is known to bring down the house with his killer impersonations of Beyonce, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, and Janet Jackson, just to name a few.  As an entertainer, it is important to always look your best and a killer face is a MUST!  Dennis taught him self how to apply his own makeup for his shows, and he really found that he had a love for makeup. This lead to the creation of his new inspirtational lip stick line, The Devine Lips of Destiny.

The Devine Lips of Destiny isn’t just a lipstick line. This product has a strong inspirational aspect to it, and each color represents a form of empowerment. It also has a philanthropic side as part of each purchase is donated to a specific cause. Dennis wanted to connect each color of his lipstick line to a specific experience that molded him into the person he is today.

“Through DLD I am hoping to change lives by bringing out the innate confidence we all have within.” -Dennis Williams

RED = LOVE ($19.99)

COURAGE

A portion will be donated to a homeless gay youth organization.

PURPLE = STRENGTH ($19.99)

STRENGTH

A portion will be donated to an organization against domestic violence of women, men and children.

In addition, to these beautiful shades of lip stick, the line offers The “Empowerment Glitter” ($10). This loose silver glitter is great to add to your eye shadow or brush it over your lips for that WOW factor!

EMPOWERMENT_GLITTER

Each lipstick comes in a mesh bag, and is wrapped in a meaningful quote that reiterates the importance of empowerment.

dld 7

dld 6

As you all know, I love a purple lip! So, it was a no brainer for me to try out Purple=Strength first. I really enjoyed the consistency of the lip stick, especially since it is a matte color.

dld 5

dld 2

dld 1

Most matte lip colors make my lips feel dry, but this lip stick is SUPER creamy and hydrating. I really love the way this color compliments my skin, being a woman of color it is hard to find the right shade of lipstick, and I can definitely see my self rockin this shade all summer!

dld 4

And did I mention, this lipstick barely transfers!!! I kissed this sheet of paper a thousand times, and barely any came off.

There are so many makeup lines out there, and a product that gives back to it’s community is very important. Not only would I recommend this line to anyone because of quality; but, I love the message behind it.

If your in the New York area tonight stop by Kenig + Alcone for the official welcome/launch party of The Devine Lips of Destiny. Kenig and Alcone is a beauty and cosmetic store created by The founder of Ricky’s NYC and the founder of Alcone Co.

Location: 538 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10011

Stop by from 5:30 – 7:30 pm for drinks, music, performances,  and LIPSTICK! RSVP HERE!

Thanks for checking out my blog!
