The Perfect Red Lip & Nail!

Hi loves!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Red is the color of love, the color that makes you feel sexy and stands out in a crowd. When you find the perfect red lip stick or nail polish you feel great! But, all red’s are NOT created equal and I felt it necessary to figure out which ones are the best. In honor of Valentine’s Day, check out my list of the perfect red lip stick’s and nail polishes!

Big Apple Red by OPI $10

This is old faithful for me, I own this color in regular and gel polish. With my skin tone, I love bright colors in general and this red polish definitely hits the spot.

Smith and Cult in Kundalini Hustle $18

This is a great cherry red and looks even better on fair skin tones.

Zoya in Livingston $10

Zoya is my favorite nail line bar none. This color has cool undertones, and is very opaque. Very opaque like.. you can get away with only one coat!

Motives in Red Stiletto $8

If you like a deeper red, Red Stiletto is for you . This polish is also special because my good friend Jasmine Yan, unfranchise owner of Motives Cosmetics and Shop.com put me on!

Essie  in Russian Roulette $8

This classic red is more on the orange-y side and looks best on darker/tan skin tones.

Nars in Chinatown $20

Chinatown is great for the fall and winter due to its purple undertones. If you feel like classic red is too loud for you, this is  a great alternative.

———————————————–

The perfect red lip is harder to find then the perfect polish. Lipstick is determined by skin tone, and you must know what tones work best for you to find the perfect shade.

Fair/ Light complexion –  the brightest of reds , raspberry and cranberry colors, with blue undertones work best.

Medium/ Dark complexion – orange based reds, burgundy and oxblood colors work best on darker tones.

MAC in Ruby Woo $17

Let’s start with the most “basic” of the red’s. Every girl needs to own this, you will always find a moment where Ruby Woo works with your look. My only issue that it makes my lips very dry, so make sure you moisturize and exfoliate well beforehand.

Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme in Goddess 202 $30

I love the satin finish of this lipstick. Nothing is worse than having to reapply your lipstick every hour, well don’t worry because this color lasts for 10 hours straight!

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution $34

This is one of the only Charlotte Tilbury products I have tried and  I fell in love. This color works for pretty much anyone, and you can check it out by skin tone on their site too! A mix between a pinkish berry and deep red it really is beautifully flattering.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Mysterious Red $27

This creamy chubby pencil glides on effortlessly and dries matte. Even though you have that matte finish your lips are moisturized underneath, because this pencil is enriched with Vitamin E.

Mac in Diva $17

Diva looks fabulous on medium and dark skinned tones. It’s a no brainer, you need this lipstick and the matching lip liner in your makeup collection.  I consider Diva to be my “natural” red, and I find myself wearing it all the time. Also, unlike Ruby Woo this is ALOT creamier, yet offers that chic matte finish.

Motives Maven Matte in Scandalous $21

This is another great red lip color by Motives that my friend Jasmine Yan of Shop.com introduced me to. Scandalous is a high pigmented matte lip gloss, that wears amazingly. I know you have seen those lip kits everywhere, and this is one to try.

Smashbox in Infrared $20

If I want to achieve that classic red lip, this is my go to color. Infrared has a matte creamy finish and is last longing. I recently bought three of these during Black Friday to stock up, since I wear it so much!

Hope this helps you on your search for the perfect red lipstick or nail polish. Red is such a classic color, and every woman should know what looks best on them for those moments where only a sultry red is appropriate.

Happy Valentines Day and thanks for reading!

Love you mean it ! <3

Thailand: The Anniversary of My Dreams

Hey loves!

I went to Thailand and it was EPIC! Sorry, if I was blowing up your timeline. But, it was truly  the best trip I’ve ever been on.

This trip was planned to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary. It’s pretty safe to say I have completely fallen in love with Thailand from our trip. Everything from the food, the beaches, night life, animals and the total vibe of the country was like a dream. It was the perfect getaway.

A couple posts ago, I mentioned Thailand being one of the places I wanted to travel on my bucket list (Read it here!), and I am so happy I got to fulfill that dream.

Now let’s get into!

One of the main reason’s I loved Phuket was that everything was super affordable which allowed us to do anything we wanted. To give you an idea; 1 US Dollar equals about 35 Thai Bhat. So, to put that in perspective a 90 minute Thai massage is about 350 Thai Baht or 10 dollars! Needless to say, I got a massage every single day! LOL

IMG_1610

I’m an island girl so beaches are a huge deal for me when going on vacation. The main reason we picked this trip was because Phuket is known for having some of the nicest beaches in the world. And man they weren’t kidding.

I can’t wait to try the seasonings we bought there and make some authentic Thai food at home.

IMG_0644

IMG_0704

IMG_0681

IMG_0705

The water is crystal clear, not a drop of seaweed, and the sand is soft like powder. I spent most of my time on the beach during the day. Note: Most hotels in the Patong Beach area of Phuket, do not have their own private beaches . The hotels are near the beach which is accessible to everyone, but I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of crowds. Le Meridien Phuket is one if not the only hotel in the area with a private beach.

IMG_0668 IMG_1701

We couldn’t have chose a better hotel  for our trip. The staff, the cleanliness, the variety of food, and just the decor of the grounds were absolutely breath taking.  I felt like our hotel was the perfect hideaway in the hustle and bustle of Patong Beach.

IMG_1204

IMG_0921

Now, Phuket is a very big island and every area is a bit different. We stayed in Patong because we wanted the ability to chill at the beach during the day but also party at night. Staying at Le Meridien Phuket was the best decision we made because it was only a 5 minute taxi away from Bangla Road (Downtown area).

IMG_1215

IMG_1243

Everywhere you turn on Bangla Road someone is selling something, or trying to get you to try out their restaurant, or club. In a nutshell, they are hustlin’ all day every day to get tourists in their businesses. Not going to lie.. Bangla Road is pretty intense since there is so much going on, but I had a great time!

IMG_0714

Fake Yeezy’s at the market! LOL

IMG_1599

IMG_1597

The food in Thailand was delicious. On our anniversary night we went to Mom Tri’s Kitchen  which is one of the most romantic restaurants in Patong. The food was delicious , service top notch and the view breathtaking. That was one of the most memorable meals of our entire trip.

IMG_1577

Image-1
During the day we tried to do as many tours as possible. One of the most memorable days was when we spent the entire day island hopping! We took a speedboat to Phi Phi Island – famous for the movie Beaches, with Leonardo DiCaprio , Phi Phi Don, Khai, Yao Yai and Bamboo Island.
IMG_1168
IMG_1178
IMG_1176 IMG_1103
IMG_1106
I loved every second of this tour! It was beautiful to see the different islands and how they each had something different to offer.
Another day, we did a nature tour and elephant trekking through the Chalong highlands.
We learned how to make coconut milk and oil. We rode a water buffalo through a rice field, and learned how to make Thai curry and desserts. It was great!  I can’t wait to try the seasonings we bought and make some authentic Thai food at home.
IMG_0803
IMG_0783
But, feeding the elephants and riding them through the mountains was the best part.At first, I was a little nervous because when you are sitting on the elephant it is like 12 feet up and very shaky.

IMG_0809 IMG_0848 IMG_0815

The view from the top of the highlands while riding the elephants was gorgeous!
IMG_0867
IMG_1235
When I originally researched things to do in Phuket. The Tiger Kingdom was #1 on my list of things to do! I mean.. where else in the world am I going to be able to touch a tiger!

IMG_1538-1
Thailand was a trip of pure relaxation, from the amazing food, the night life , and wildlife . I am definitely looking to go back to Thailand in the near future. We even checked out how much it would be to rent out a condo LOL that’s how bad we didn’t want to leave.
The only con of the trip was the distance. 20 hours of traveling was pretty tough especially because my hubby and I are very tall, but I would definitely do it again. I am beyond grateful I  got to experience this trip of a lifetime.
Now, where should we go next?!
Thanks for reading, and go to Thailand!

You probably have heard of Aimee Song..  and if you haven’t now your going to be obsessed with her life. Aimee is a California based fashion blogger with a classic/ modern sense of style. To this day, I have never seen her in an outfit I wouldnt wear. Not only is she a brand ambassador for a number of huge brands. She is an avid traveler, and always documents her vacays. So, I stalk her instagram on a daily to keep up with her fabulousness.

Miss Ellarie

Ellarie is a beauty blogger and makeup artist who gives the best tips and tricks through her makeup videos. I wish I was as good at doing my make up as Ellarie, and sometimes I even think I am, but I come out of the bathroom looking like a clown. But, HEY a  girl can dream LOL! Ellarie also reviews most of the new products from the popular brands, so I always check her blog out before trying something new because her reviews are dead on!

The Best Day of My Life..

You don’t understand how time consuming planning a wedding is; until your.. well PLANNING A WEDDING! I can remember the first day I got engaged and now I have been married for a month. Time truly flies, and the best advice I can give to any new bride is to soak up EVERY SECOND of this time in your life, because getting married is such an indescribeable feeling.

They tell you that as soon as you say ” I do” things instantly change. That sounded crazy to me, because I couldn’t understand how saying two simple words could change EVERYTHING! Especially when I felt things were pretty great in my relationship already.

But, it did! Something happens when you express to your close family and friends your unconditional love for someone, it changes you. I never knew I could feel so connected to another person in my entire life. This man isn’t my boyfriend, or fiance, he is my HUSBAND forever.

DSC_69732

Our wedding day was April 23, 2015 and we chose The Rockleigh Country Club as our wedding venue in New Jersey. As soon as we visited The Rockleigh we knew we had to get married there. We previously saw about 30 wedding venues and we were just in awe as soon as we walked in. The premises were so pristine and elegant that it just seemed like the perfect choice for our simple, elegant, wedding.

DSC_76661

Now, just for the record I didn’t hire a wedding planner for two reasons. First, I thought it was a waste of my money. I know wedding planners work hard to bring your  ideas to life, but I just didn’t want to spend the money when I knew I could do it my self. Secondly, I have trust issues, and would have been micromanaging whoever I hired! In hindsight, I should have hired a wedding coordinator just to alleviate some stress while planning all the little details. But, for the most part if you are newly engaged you can really save money by planning on your own.

The color’s of our wedding were gold and emerald green.

The flowers we used throughout the wedding were white roses and white lisianthus.

I made all of the place cards, and frames my selves. I am not really the best at DIY projects, but I love how everything came out.

DSC_7469_1

My bouquet consisted of white roses, white lisianthus, white freesia, white dendrobium orchids, eucalyptus, and green berries.

DSC_7422

DSC_7488

For the reception area we wanted to keep the room romantic and dim so we opted for;  hundred of candles, tall glass stem vases combined with floating candles, white roses, and lisianthus.

Now, let’s get to the dress! I tried on a bunch of dresses, all different styles because I really had no clue what I wanted. I thought I needed to try on everything because I didn’t want to miss out on the dress of my dreams! But as soon as this Vera Wang gown touched my skin I knew it was the one. What really stood out to me most with this gown, was the halter top and the flower details. It was pretty hard to find a dress that wasn’t  strapless, so that really caught my eye.

It kills me that I will never be able to wear my Vera Wang dress again. Ultimately, I want to have my dress framed and hung in my closet. But, until then I’ll continue to hug it every morning!

For my wedding nails, I decided to do a lace detailed manicure that I tried before in the past and loved. I had my fellow nail guru Cassandra do my nails, and they came out perfectly! The color is Brigette by Zoya.

Most brides see their groom for the first time when they walk down the aisle. But, my husband and I decided we wanted to do a first look before the ceremony to get rid of any jitters. This really was one of the most memorable moments of my wedding day, and I recommend this to any future bride who wants to get the bulk of their pictures done prior to the ceremony. I am so grateful we decided to do this because I would have been even more of a nervous wreck walking down the aisle, then I already was.

The entertainment at my wedding was amazing. Absolute Celebrations had my guests ready to turn up as soon as the reception started. Everyone knows good music makes a party, and I was so worried about that. But I really had nothing to worry about, everything was on point! I still have people telling me how great the DJ and MC were.

Advice to future brides

1. Don’t worry about the little details. On your big day your not going to worry about if your flower girl basket and ring barrier pillow match. In the grand scheme of things, NO ONE cares or notices these things.

2. Make sure you pick the right wedding party! I cant stress this point enough . You want to have a wedding party that will help alleviate stress not cause it. I was very lucky to have such great bridesmaids to share this time with.

DSC_7546

3. Make sure you cut corners and budget in the right places. For instance, don’t get a cheap inexperienced photographer and splurge on flowers. Remember it is only one night , so think of what you are actually going to keep from that day. Flowers die, pictures are forever.

I am beyond thankful and blessed to have had such a beautiful wedding. Thank you to my gorgeous mother, mother in law, bridesmaids, family, friends and my husband for helping make this day perfect.

DSC_76831

Getting married was like adding a period to the sentence which was our love. I just feel so complete, and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect, more beautiful, more honest wedding day. It was the best day of my life.

Nail Biters Anonymous

Hi loves!

I have been thinking for a while to write a blog post for my nail biters out there. This post is a little wordier than normal, so bare with me :). Nail biting has been an issue for me all of my life. I sucked my thumb as a kid, and once I moved on from that, nail biting was my thing. To this day, nail biting is still an issue for me, and I wanted to share my journey with all of you.

Nail biting for me is 60% anxiety related and 40% out of pure boredom.  It is tough to tell you guys what I have done to stop nail biting, because I am still working on this habit.  But, my main way of stopping my obsessive nail biting was and still is…. getting manicures FREQUENTLY! It is amazing how far I have come with my nail biting, but I have to chalk it up to the fact that I became obsessed with nail polish. The compliments I would get from people seeing my nails are alot more rewarding then people cringing at my bleeding cracked fingertips.

I personally have tried every thing on the market to stop biting my nails, and nothing has worked better then just getting a manicure weekly. But, there are a few tricks and tips I want to share with my fellow nail biters.

NAILS

Nail Treatments: I have mentioned in my previous posts REJUVACOTE by Duri is AMAZING! With all this wedding planning stress, I find my self picking and biting at my nails often and this has saved me. REJUVACOTE is a nail treatment that makes your nails grow longer, stronger and faster.

duri-nail-growth-system-rejuvacote

Anti- Nail Biting Polish: I personally have tried a ton of them! And if you want to bite your nails, you most likely will just deal with the nasty taste. But, this product I have used up completely, and if my nails aren’t going to be polished. I will put a coat of Rejuvacote on my nails, and then a coat of Orly No Bite polish to hold me over until my next mani.

$_12

Hair/Nail Pills: Any hair or nail vitamin that contains biotin or vitamin D makes your nails healthier from the inside out. I personally use Hairfinity and let me tell you, THIS STUFF WORKS! I have always been skeptical about hair pills, but I have tried a variety of different brands, and I see results! Who doesn’t want strong, long nails and hair?!

brock-beauty-2

Gum: Nail biting is an oral fixation issue too. In the beginning of me trying to stop biting my nails, I always ate peppermints or gum when I got that sensation to put my hands in my mouth. So, I recommend finding something to do when you get that urge to bite. A friend of mine would put a rubber band on her wrist, and popped it everytime she got the urge to bite. That didn’t work for me personally, but it might work for someone else out there!

Cleanliness: I don’t think I realized how disgusting it was to have my hands in my mouth until I toned down my nail biting. When I used to bite my nails frequently, I ALWAYS had a cold. But, I mean DUH! my dirty hands were in my mouth all day. Also, no one wants to shake your hand when you just drooled all over it LOL. So, overall its just a good idea to keep your hands out of your mouth.

Nail biting is a bad habit, but we all deserve beautiful nails! I hope I could shed some light on my journey through nail biting. It’s a work in progress, but I have come a LONG way and  if I can do it, I know you can too.

Thanks for checking out my post.

Love you mean it!

The Best Red for Valentine’s Day!

It’s Valentine’s Day and no matter what you have planned its always great to have a fun festive mani.

I’m not a big fan of my nails in pink for some reason, so red usually is my go to color.

Here are a few of my favorite red’s ♥ !

The Spy Who Loved Me by OPI

This is an oldie but goodie. This bright red is from the 2012 Skyfall Collection, but it is still one of my favorite red’s. It is very opaque so you can really get away with one coat. So… it’s the perfect color when you need to cut down drying time and run!

Christian Louboutin – Rouge Louboutin

This highly publicized polish really lives up to the hype. It covers well, and I really like the consistency of this polish. Besides the fact that the long stilletto handle makes it a little awkward to apply, it is def one of my newest faves!

Mystical Mystique by Color Club is a nice deep red and was the inspiration for this Valentines Day theme manicure by Cassandra. (On Wednesday’s, We Wear Polish)

The colors used for this manicure are:

Red – Mystical Mystique by Color Club (Special Edition Color)

Black – Black Swift 23 by Milani

Glitter – Sky Diamond by Hit Polish

White – WHITE by Milani

My thumb, middle, and pinky finger were achieved by marbling colors with a makeup sponge over a white base. And the nail art was achieved by stamping with Moyou London plates.
